How AI webcam transformation works

Your browser captures your webcam and sends the video straight to a generative AI engine, which streams the transformed video back in real time. Shape Shiftr's servers never receive your footage.

An ordinary webcam is enough

Built-in laptop cameras, USB webcams and phone cameras all work. Good front lighting and a plain background help the AI the most. For full-body looks, step back so more of you is in frame; the studio shows a framing guide.

Recording transformed video

Press Record to capture the transformed video with your microphone audio. Snapshots save a still frame. Every recording carries an AI label.

Using it on video calls

Shape Shiftr does not install a virtual camera, so it will not appear in your call app's camera list. To show your look in a call, share the Shape Shiftr window with screen sharing. For streams, use the OBS setup.

FAQ

Common questions

Why does my browser ask for camera permission?

The studio needs your camera to transform it. If you blocked it, click the camera icon in the address bar and allow access, then reload.

My webcam is not listed. What should I do?

Close other apps that might be using the camera, reconnect it, and reload the studio. Then pick it from the camera menu.

Which browsers are supported?

Current desktop and mobile browsers with camera and WebRTC support. Chrome is recommended.

Can I use it in Zoom or Google Meet?

Not as a camera yet. You can share the studio window using the meeting app's screen sharing.

Does lighting matter?

Yes. Even light on your face and a camera at eye level give the AI the clearest view and the best results.
